The Wisdom of Leo Tolstoy :)

I found this quote by Leo Tolstoy, the classic author, today:
"Music is the shorthand of emotion."
It's so true for me.  Because when I'm sad, melancholy music helps me express those emotions.  When I'm happy, upbeat music helps me express those emotions.  Sometimes there's things you can't tell other people, but you can still express them aloud through music.  During some of the most emotional times of my life, my favorite thing to do was to play the piano or listen to good music.  There's nothing like playing a heart-wrenching song on the piano or listening to music to help you express those inexpressible emotions.

Do you play music or listen to music based on your emotions?  Do you listen to upbeat music when you're sad (to help you cheer up) or do you listen to melancholy music when you're sad (to express your emotions)?
